SIGNIS World Congress 2009: Workshops on Children and Media


Brussels, 27 August 2009 (SIGNIS) – The SIGNIS World Congress 2009 to be held in Chiang Mai will include 16 workshops for media professionals from different audiovisual areas. In accordance with the Congress’ theme "Media for a Culture of Peace – Children’s Rights, Tomorrow’s Promise", some of the workshops will be directed towards the relationship between children and the media.

In Children’s Rights and the Media, William Bird will present a monitoring project on children’s rights in the media; Michael Hertl and Angeline Khoo will reflect upon the relationships between New Media and Young People; Radijojo will reveal its experience in the field of Radio for Children; the session Children’s Rights – TV Production and other Media will analyse Dutch channel KRO’s strategy regarding children’s programmes; two workshops will be dedicated to the SIGNIS project for SIGMEP/Media Education; the TV Producers Seminar will focus on programmes dedicated to children; finally, Children Working with Media will take a look at children and young people’s participation in media production.
